This has been so much fun to play especially since I am fascinated by Bush-era political culture, but I'm surprised by how many scenarios result in Sharpton being Bush's opponent -- I always figured that he was never a serious contender for the nomination and I'm having a hard time imagining a scenario in which he were to win the nomination, even in a weak field. What do you think a primary that resulted in Sharpton as the nominee would have looked like?
To get him, you need to start at least one war and have a fair bit of domestic success. The idea when developing it was that this would scare away high-profile dems from challenging Bush, and that the polarization brought on by a war would lead dem voters to revolt against an establishment that seems buddy-buddy with Bush. You can get stronger candidates if you're less successful.
Yeah so far I’ve gotten Sharpton, Wellstone, Hillary, and Edwards! Definitely a big part of the fun is just seeing what paths result in facing which opponents
